Monaco Maritime Police Patrol Vessel delivered

The new rescue and fire-fighting vessel – which was delivered last Wednesday 16 December by the Effebi shipyard of Viareggio – represented by Katia Balducci – to the Police Maritime of the Principality of Monaco has been named Gabriella, after the eldest daughter of Prince Albert II of Monaco and Princess Charlène.

The vessel, which was launched at the end of October in the waters of the Darsena (dockyard) of Viareggio, has an overall length of 24 meters, a width of 5.60 meters and quickly reaches the maximum speed of 30 knots. She is equipped with a movable platform for the recovery of survivors from the water and a sophisticated water system to extinguish fires. The vessel was received and celebrated in the port of Monte Carlo by the whole Grimaldi family with little Gabriella Thérèse Marie smashing the traditional bottle – made of sugar to mark the occasion – on the bow to “officially christen” the Fast Patrol Vessel. As a tribute to the newcomer, the Principality also presented the “Princesse Gabriella” special stamp with a celebration postmark.

After the bottle was broken, the Managing Director of Effebi Spa Katia Balducci, together with her daughters Eleonora and Elisa, accompanied Prince Albert on board of the vessel and gave him a scale model as a faithful reproduction of the new vessel that will be used by the Police Maritime of the Principality.

“Admiring our Mangusta-branded vessels moored in the beautiful setting of the Principality of Monaco is one of the greatest achievements for all my family.” – said Katia Balducci. “Over the years many of our customers have chosen this port, but today for us it is a great privilege to see an Effebi military unit moored here. I would like to share this success with all our collaborators – because we have achieved these results thanks to them and their professionalism – as well as with the whole Tuscan nautical sector: this is also a signal that, even in a difficult time, we have to believe in our value and move on.”

This achievement rewards, once again, the choice of the historic shipyard of Viareggio to invest for its creations in innovation and safety, thus consolidating its leadership in Italy and Europe in the supply to States and public bodies.

The team of the military division that worked to the construction of the boat attended the ceremony too: Fabio Bonaccorsi, Chief Operating Officer; Enrica Tamberi, Head of Interior Decoration; and Giovanni Venuti, Project Manager.

The Effebi shipyard has recently delivered the first Hybrid Propulsion Patrol Boat for the ‘117’ surveillance and public utility service in the Venice Lagoon and is currently engaged in the construction of the first 44 meters Coastal Patrol vessel, also for the Guardia di Finanza.

Effebi was founded in 1983 by the Balducci family, who is still leading the company. It specializes in boats from 15 to 50 meters and operates in the military sector under the Effebi brand and in the pleasure yachting industry under the Mangusta, Mangusta Oceano and Mangusta GranSport brands. It operates in several facilities in the areas of Massarosa, Massa and Carrara Avenza with a total area for production of approximately 72,500 square meters (indoor and outdoor spaces). The company has always invested in research to improve the environment and promote safety in the workplace and is ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certified.
